Dynamic non-linear analysis

Overview
Engineer's Studio(R)Plugin SDK(hereafter "Plugin SDK") is the programming development kit for creating the input data of Engineer's Studio(R) directly (Figure1). As API is using COM(Component Object Model), if the development environment for COM such as C, C+, VBA, Delphi is supported, the users can create the models more freely. It is DLL that has to be created for development environment. The DLL is registered to OS (WindowsXP/Vista/7), and "Plug-in tab" button is added to the main screen next time the users start Engineer's Studio(R) (Figure2). Clicking this button will retrieve the input window which was freely created in the development environment. The created input data is displayed in the input window of Engineer's Studio(R) as well.
Since Engineer's Studio(R) is used for the display of calculation and results, you are required to purchase Engineer's Studio(R) separately. The reference is provided in help format, and it is included in Plug-in SDK product. This program not only comes in Japanese but also in English(Figure3).

Samples
The program includes the sample source code developed by using Plugin SDK. In the default settings, it is in "C:\ProgramFiles\FORUM 8\ES Plugin SDK 10602\SampleSource\SDK sample\" folder. Six samples are preset.

Parabola
This sample shows the frame structure in parabolic shape created with frame elements. The data of nodes and frame elements are created by using Plugin SDK. The section and supporting points are inputted in the input window(Figure4).

Box
This sample shows the box culvert structure created with frame elements. The data of nodes and frame elements are created by using Plugin SDK. The section and supporting points are inputted in the input window(Figure5)

Line
This sample shows the linear structure created with frame elements. The data of nodes and frame elements are created by using Plugin SDK. The section and supporting points are inputted in the input window(Figure6)

Bridge
This sample shows the continuous road bridge with five spans created with frame elements. The non-linear dynamic analysis is set. The calculation can be performed at once. The nodes, RC section, elastic beam elements, M-ƒÓelements, spring elements, rigid elements, supporting points, damping constant, seismic wave shapes, sequence load, and run are created by using Plugin SDK(Figure7).

Shapai
This sample shows the diagonalƒÎbridge created with frame elements. The calculation can be performed at once. The nodes, RC section, elastic beam elements, rigid elements, supporting points, horizontal seismic load are created by using Plugin SDK(Figure8).

Plate
This sample shows the out-of-plane concentrated static load model with plate fixed on four sides. The non-linear plate elements is set. The calculation can be performed at once. The nodes, plate elements (elastic and non-linear), rigid elements, supporting points, forced displacement load are created by using Plugin SDK(Figure9).

Finally...
The input window of Engineer's Studio(R) is designed for general-purpose, however, it is not always useful as the input system is a little complicated and there are unnecessary input items. But, Plugin SDK can solve this problem by developing an original program to prepare an input window specified for a specific structure.
However, some data cannot be inputted by Plugin SDK: Layer property, end offset of frame element, end condition of frame element, initial section force, Rayleigh damping, damping constant, input of section calculation, definition of active load, definition of strain check on steel members, access to the calculation result. These elements need to be inputted and checked in Engineer's Studio(R). It will be expanded in future development.
