Introduction
- 3 of the main updates in Engineer's Studio(R) Ver 1.05.00 are as follows. This is a free upgrade.
- Section calculator
- Plate element surface loading distribution
- 64bit solver
Section calculator
|
In Ver1.05.00, the allowable bending stress, the bending strength, the
average shear stress, the shear strength and >the minimum reinforcement
requirements of an RC section can be checked against the highway bridge
specifications. The functions of this new version of Engineer's Studio is
essentially the same as UC-win/FRAME(3D) and UC-win/Section, but the I/O
was dramatically improved. The review items that were listed as a set in
the existing programs can be separated into more detailed units and can
be assigned either to be reviewed individually or collectively, thus, minimizing
the amount of data that is required to be inputted (figure 1). |

On the results screen, results are listed using the ratio of allowable values against responsive values. If the ratio exceeds 1.0, it is displayed in red to indicate bad results. Since all the review items are displayed with this ratio, whether the design has enough allowance or not can be examined at one glance. The list can also be reordered by this ratio.
In addition, Engineer's Studio can display bad results by group and save the results of section calculation, which were not supported in UC-win/FRAME(3D), UC-win/Section. |

Plate element surface loading distribution
|
Previously, when a load was applied to a plate element, it was concentrated
on one node. Now, the load can be distributed across the plate. 3 types
of surface loading distribution are available: loading pattern that runs
along the entire coordinates; loading pattern that corresponds to the loads
projected along the frame element; and the loading pattern along the element
coordinates (Figure 3, right). |

64bit Solver
|
Solver for 64bit OS is now available. (Figure 4). With this solver, calculations of large models with numerous nodes are possible. However, the input screen, the output screen, the pre-processing, and the post processing are in 32bit. This new solver will eliminate the memory shortage problems and shorten the calculation time. |

Limit state design from such studies as "concrete standards specifications" from civil engineering society, automatic calculation of MƒÓ properties and MƒÆ properties of spring element from section shape and bar arrangement and verification of residual deformation of highway bridges are not supported in this version ? these are planned for release by the end of the year. We would like to apologize deeply for the delay in development. Aforementioned "Plate element surface loading distribution" and "64bit solver" are available, not in version 1.05.00, but in version 1.04.00. |
