FORUM8 is awarded The 8th Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Awards METI Minister's Award
- Connection acceleration among various technologies and industries
by UC-win/Road open data cooperation -

On December 27, 2019, FORUM8 Co., Ltd. (2-15-1 Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo. President Yuji Ito. URL: http://www.forum8.co.jp/english/) was awarded The 8th Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Awards METI Minister's Award in "Connected Industries - outstanding collaboration" section for "Connection acceleration among various technologies and industries by UC-win/Road open data cooperation". The award ceremony will be held at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo on January 27, 2020.

"Connected Industries - outstanding collaboration" section in "Monodzukuri supporting industry and society" category will be granted to individuals or groups that have created new added value or advanced efforts for solutions to challenges by connecting a variety of things, e.g., machines, technologies and people, through data sharing and other initiatives in harmonization areas.
UC-win/Road is highly evaluated because of the following reasons. First, the VR platform provided by the UC-win/Road open data cooperation is an effective social communication tool that enables the consensus creation in complex relationship among stakeholders at the beginning stage of infrastructure plannings. Second, it can connect a variety of fields such as disaster mitigation, environment, and education and can be applied to them. Finally, it is exactly software promoting the connected industry such as the system deployment to driving simulator.
FORUM8 will continue to enhance and improve the UC-win/Road VR cooperation technology as a common platform to solve social problems.

It can be the platform connecting open data and industries and realize the Society 5.0. 
This Japan-made VR software has results and is expected to spread in overseas.

Simulation of Ohashi Junction
The data includes colored guide signs and complex road
structure such as double loop line to connect roads with 70m height difference and overcrossing 4 roads in limited space.
Driving simulator is used to test driving assistance function.
VR simulation of Hokkaido Shinkansen Sapporo station planning
The data includes a walking simulation displaying the transit from
Shinkansen to local trains and depiction of digital signages under
consideration. The VR data will be actively used for reviews at each
stage of the plan.
