FORUM8 Design Festival 2017-3Days+Eve will be held from 14th November
Four ministries will speak at the "Autonomous Driving Conference"
Special Lectures by Prof. Maekawa from Univ. of Tokyo / Prof. Yabuki from Osaka Univ.

FORUM8 (2-15-1 Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo. President Yuji Ito. URL: http://www.forum8.co.jp/english/) will hold its 11th FORUM8 Design Festival 2017+Eve from 14 to 17 November.

The "Autonomous Driving Conference", first held last year, is also scheduled this year. Government officials leading Japanese policy in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications / Economy, Trade and Industry / Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the National Police Agency have been invited to deliver lectures on the latest Japanese and global trends in autonomous driving, and the future vision for its expansion. Also, new functions of UC-win/Road with its VR support for ADAS / autonomous driving R&D and enhanced simulator functions will be introduced along with case studies.

The Festival kicks off on 14th with an 'Eve' event, with a "Real and Virtual Game Worlds" theme. Subsquent days will see a variety of programs centered on the civil engineering / construction field, including "The 10th International VR Symposium", "The 3rd State of the Art Technologies in Expression Association / Latest Contents Sessions / CRAVA Inc.", and "The 11th Design Conference IM&VR i-Construction Session". On Day 3, special lectures by Prof. Koichi Maekawa from University of Tokyo and Prof. Nobuyoshi Yabuki from Osaka University are scheduled. FORUM8 will present the revised Specifications for highway bridges. We will explain the latest functions of the UC-1 series partial factor method software for performance design, as well as introducing our development of VR functions, and 3D CAD and 3D FEM analysis software, that contribute to the realization of the CIM i-Construction.

Award ceremonies will be also be held for "The 16th 3D VR Simulation Contest on Cloud", the international student competitions "The 5th Cloud Programming World Cup (CPWC)" and "The 7th Virtual Design World Cup (VDWC)", and "The 4th National Resilience Design Award (NaRDA)". All competitions promote the utilization of advanced Forum8 technologies.

Software technologies will make a significant contributiion to the realization of "Society5.0" announced by the Japanese government. In particular, virtual reality technology will be used in a variety of fields in society and in industry. We are hosting the Design Festival as an opportunity to learn about and envision the age of the Society5.0.

- Introduction of the current support for the new Specifications for highway bridges and the latest functions of related products.
- Award ceremony of the NaRDA (National Resilience Design Award)
